First Time Login / Password

secretnono / 2009-06-02 00:06:16

I have installed indexhibit and have made it all the way to the login / password page for the first time. After entering "index1" for the login, and "exhibit" for the password [a number of times], i keep getting the message "Your password or login are incorrect. Try again." Since this is the first time I've tried to login, there shouldn't be any possibility for a different login/pw.

help?

thanks.

-no no.

And your site is?

secretnono / 2009-06-02 02:29:35

I don't think that has anything to do with the current issue.

secretnono / 2009-06-02 02:35:31

hmm. i've even removed all the files from my host and started over again. i've even installed/uninstalled the password reset php. each time i have the same problem at the login page. it won't accept the password.

I think you deleted a page that was your home.
Have a look at these search results.

secretnono / 2009-06-02 15:50:10

i've just uploaded all of the indexhibit stuff onto my web site. i haven't deleted anything. the problem is when i go here and enter index1 for the login and exhibit for the password. i've never made it past this point because it always tell me that this default login/pw is incorrect. i've uninstalled and reinstalled.

somebody, help!

Vaska A / 2009-06-02 16:00:34

I don't think that has anything to do with the current issue.

Ok. Sorry I couldn't be of help.

lemathieu A / 2009-06-02 16:27:34

and how did you get this [ linda promises cake. ] ?

lemathieu A / 2009-06-02 16:32:24

had you pass all the steps like this one ?

and please be cool with us, we're here for helping…

secretnono / 2009-06-02 17:34:16

vaska - wasn't trying to be rude, just was confused about what the url had to do with anything, hence saying i didn't think it had anything to do with my problem. later realized you could go to the login page from there to see what the problem might be. my mistake. again, wasn't trying to be rude. i see how it looks that way. [i hate communicating through type, i always sound like a jerk. promise my intentions are different.]

lemathieu - i don't remember how i got the cake thing up there. previously i had built a landing page that just linked to a downloadable .pdf. the cake thing still lives there but all of the indexhibit folders are where they should be.

i did pass all of those steps, yes. it gave me the OK for all of the folders that i would need to write over.

Vaska A / 2009-06-02 17:56:21

Well...you know...I do know more than a little about Indexhibit. Please have a read of the forum rules.

You aren't reinstalling unless you are deleting out the tables from your database. Your hosts very likely provides PHPMyAdmin so you can delete the tables.

Then reinstall.
Login with index1/exhibit.

If that does not work then you have a file that was not uploaded properly...but you should reupload all your files before you reinstall.

secretnono / 2009-06-03 00:41:19

Thanks. I deleted everything from the database via my cyberduck. Then, I went into my file manager provided by my host to make sure all the files are gone. they seemed gone to me as i couldn't find trace of the indexhibit files anywhere, but I might be mistaken due to my ignorance on this subject. What do you mean by 'tables'? I don't know if I know what that means exactly. Anyways, since it all seemed a-ok and empty, i went ahead and put the inexhibit files back into my root folder, went through the overrides, database name, user, language setup, all that stuff...and same deal when i get to the login/password page. there's got to be something that i'm doing wrong. thanks for bearing with me and for helping me try to figure this out.

paucc A / 2009-06-03 07:06:32

Appart form the files, there's a thing called database, it is created in mysql and edited in PHPmyadmin.
You had to create that datbase once before. There is where your indexhibit username and password is saved.
Ask your host to delete all your mysql database tables.

machuca / 2009-06-04 05:38:54

I have the same problem than Secretono. Login or password incorrect. I tried to delete myskql datebase talbes but it didn't work. I thought it was because of my first hosting. So after some weeks, I changed my hosting so I created a new mysql. I already have the same problem and it's new.

machuca / 2009-06-04 06:12:32

Any idea?
I will apreciate your help. Thanks

We have an installation service...people have been trying to help you.

Eloisa A / 2009-06-06 13:34:16

Did you use the password reset script? try that if you haven't. (if you don't know what that is, research the forum)

bettynuggs / 2009-06-06 17:07:01

Thanks Eloisa and Vaska, appreciate it.
I will try the reset script, and if that doesn't work, than I will probably just use the service.
Thanks again,
elizabeth

bettynuggs / 2009-06-07 20:04:10

hi guys. so i tried the reset script. and then it said "Looks OK"
could this possibly be because i have my old website up at that url right now?

kkeaner / 2010-11-26 23:22:45

I am a having the same problem. I installed reinstalled. Used the reset script and it says incorrect password. any other thoughts? thanks!

There\'s no need to double post - just search the forum... I found this:

Please help,
\nI´ve just made a new web by Indexhibit www.cerstvydizajn.sk, everything was working till I´ve changed the default login/password. Now when I try to log-in it gives me this \"Your password or login are incorrect. Try again.\"
\nWhat did I do wrong? Did I make a misspell at user preferences?
\nHow can I get through now?
\nThanks!

arsondpi / 2010-11-29 07:04:02

Did you read my last response to this thread? And please do not doublepost - it\'s not helping others finding things...

alex0206 / 2010-11-29 07:24:09

Hello, I did not know we were not allowed to post twice the same thing in a new post and in a other. I did that to make it seen.
\nSo sorry.

\n\n

I read your last post on this topic as you just advise, but I block from \"Using PHPMyAdmin\" I don\'t understand what you mean.
\nCan you help me?
\nThanks a lot

Vaska A / 2010-11-29 07:32:40

Read the forum rules...double posting on most forums isn\'t good ettiquette. Why not just post the same thing 100 times? See?

\n\n

Why can\'t you use the Password Reset script that is on the downloads page to solve this?

alex0206 / 2010-11-29 07:59:15

I\'m sorry, i wrote a new post and after i saw this one, so i post something, it wasn\'t exactly the same thing, sorry .... !!

\n\n

About the subject, i don\'t understand what are you telling me ?
\ni\'m french, i try to understand but it\'s difficult ..

\n\n

Thanks

Vaska A / 2010-11-29 09:17:15

Désole, ma français est mal.

\n\n

alex0206 / 2010-12-02 11:57:56

Ok thank you very much, it 's work!!! :)

oliviahenry / 2010-12-02 12:21:51

I am logging in for the first time. I don't know what to fill in the fields of "Exhibition Name", or Database Server/Name/Username/Password. I have tried various combinations of my IP address and the login info I use for my filezilla account but I have not struck the right one. What information goes there?

oliviahenry / 2010-12-02 12:56:21

when i hit submit i am repeatedly getting a " Please check your config settings again." message

obscenepickle / 2010-12-04 19:31:40

Hi there,

I am having the exact same problem as oliviahenry. Not sure what is meant to go into each field as nothing I input seems to work. Also get 'Please check your config settings again' message.

localicon / 2010-12-05 15:52:40

Thanks Vaska for the hint, it helped.
